Green, greener, competitive advantage: Eco-accounting summit for sustainable logistics in Dortmund, Germany

EC 20140206 032Green logistics is not one of the most beloved topics within the sector: recently passed laws and regulations on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are perceived if not as cost drivers but at least critical. However, not all logistics service providers share this opinion. At the eco-accounting summit for sustainable logistics in Dortmund, not only speakers, but about 50 participants mostly from industry stressed their strong believe, that green logistics measures even account for cost reduction as well as for innovation. The summit held on February 6, 2014 was initiated in the course of the LOG4GREEN project and organized by the EffizienzCluster Logistics Ruhr in cooperation with the Economic Development Agency of the City of Dortmund.

Interdisciplinary Science – Research, Management & Structural Innovations in a Changing Society

Following the LOG4GREEN meeting in Odessa in September 2013, a joint workshop was carried out with representatives of the Odessa National Maritime University (ONMU), and the Center for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV) of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) addressing university staff, lecturers and students of the management master program of ONMU20. To intensify their relationship, the university representatives have signed an official Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Exchange at the beginning of the workshop.

Logistic cluster: The European experience and a new start for Ukraine

Within the last several years the question of creating a Maritime Cluster in Ukraine was one of the hot topics to be discussed in a number of round tables and seminars in Odessa. However, several initiatives never left the status of discussion. A new start to develop a cluster was made on September 17 this year in Odessa at the Regional Cluster Activating Workshop within the international project LOG4GREEN.
